Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 35,000 + Commissions

Location: Mombasa

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly systematic, detail-driven Human Resource Officer to anchor our regional personnel operations and administrative compliance framework. Your primary objective is to maintain absolute integrity across our employee databases, streamline monthly payroll inputs, and uphold strict labor standards within our fast-paced workspace. This position bridges meticulous backend recordkeeping with active team relations; you will guide personnel workflows from initial recruitment sourcing and contract execution through to performance evaluations and dispute resolution. The role calls for a confidential, structured professional who understands Kenyan labor laws and can operate smoothly under high-pressure timelines.

Areas of Accountability

Personnel Administration & Onboarding Paths

  • Facilitate the end-to-end recruitment process, including compiling candidate shortlists, organizing interviews, and structuring orientation programs.
  • Establish, audit, and secure physical and digital employee files, ensuring all mandatory tax, statutory, and background documentation is intact.
  • Manage real-time attendance registers, shift logs, and localized annual leave schedules within the internal timekeeping platform.
  • Draft, renew, and archive compliant employment contracts, warning notices, and official workplace correspondence.

Payroll Verification & Compensation Audit

  • Review monthly timesheets and attendance data variables to compile error-free inputs for payroll processing.
  • Partner with finance desks to validate deductions, overtime allocations, and timely statutory filing processes.
  • Resolve employee inquiries regarding salary variances, commission structures, and benefit disbursements with absolute professionalism.

Employee Relations & Corrective Action

  • Support management in handling employee grievances, workplace friction, and standard disciplinary inquiries objectively.
  • Enforce corporate policies and behavioral expectations across all operational units uniformly and fairly.
  • Champion employer branding initiatives and internal marketing drives to optimize general team retention and morale.

Appraisal Monitoring & Skill Development

  • Coordinate the distribution, tracking, and collection of periodic staff performance appraisals and balance scorecards.
  • Arrange internal training modules, safety compliance workshops, and team improvement programs based on performance gaps.
  • Formulate routine human resource metrics, turnover analyses, and compliance audit summaries for leadership assessment.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a matching corporate management discipline.
  • Operational Longevity: Minimum of 3 years of progressive, verifiable experience operating as an HR Officer or Personnel Administrator inside a highly active company.
  • Technical Mastery: High-level familiarity with modern attendance tracking systems, automated payroll software, and digital record registers.
  • Legal Literacy: Solid understanding of the Employment Act of Kenya, labor compliance regulations, and public health guidelines.

Individual Attribute Profiles

  • Absolute Discretion: Proven capacity to manage highly sensitive corporate data and private payroll statistics with total confidentiality.
  • Process Precision: Elite organizational habits, with a sharp eye for correcting data entry bugs, missing signatures, or contract inconsistencies.
  • Interpersonal Balance: Calm, articulate, and non-partisan communicator skilled at settling workforce friction points maturely.

What’s in for You

  • Dynamic Compensation Loop: Elevate your guaranteed monthly baseline salary through an integrated performance-linked commission model.
  • Operational Autonomy: Manage essential personnel frameworks and workflow loops within a busy, high-velocity business hub.
  • Professional Longevity: Expand your expertise across multi-department payroll logistics, trade relations, and corporate strategy.
