Job Title: Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Job Description
- Undertaking general and specialized diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients in obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Providing comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, including management of high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies.
- Diagnosing and managing gynaecological conditions, including performing specialized gynaecological and obstetric surgical procedures.
- Providing psycho-social support and counselling to patients and their families on reproductive and maternal health issues.
- Providing clinical services to patients in maternity, gynaecology wards and theatres.
- Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities, including carrying out forensic and medico-legal services related to obstetric and gynaecological practice.
- Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention and control related to maternal and reproductive health.
- Coordinating health education and promotion activities on maternal, newborn and reproductive health.
- Implementing maternal, newborn and reproductive health projects and programmes.
- Maintaining up-to-date maternal and reproductive health information systems.
- Monitoring the provision of obstetric and gynaecological treatment and care services.
- Undertaking clinical audits, maternal death reviews and health research.
- Analysing medical reports and maternal health data.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Possesses a minimum of three (3) years’ experience serving in a comparable position within the public or private sector.
- Master’s degree in obstetrics and gynaecology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
- Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Valid practicing licence from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Certificate in strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrated professional competence and professional capability as reflected in work performance and results.
