Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Sales Clerk to join our overnight retail team within our expanding liquor store division. Your primary objective is to manage the smooth execution of storefront operations, financial transactions, and inventory control during the night shift. This position combines high-quality customer care with strict regulatory enforcement; you will guide late-night shoppers from product selection and legal age checks through to accurate cash register settlement. The role calls for a trustworthy individual who can operate independently during night hours, preserve store cleanliness, and maintain immaculate shelf displays.

Areas of Accountability

Customer Consultation & Frontline Service

• Greet late-night customers warmly, assisting them in navigating the store and locating preferred alcoholic beverages or mixers.

• Offer informed product recommendations, providing basic insights on different liquor brands, categories, and flavor profiles.

• Address patron inquiries, resolve customer complaints professionally, and elevate complex issues to the supervisor when necessary.

Point of Sale & Cash Logistics

• Operate the digital point of sale (POS) terminal, processing cash, mobile money, and card payments with absolute accuracy.

• Count, verify, and reconcile the cash drawer before and after the night shift to guarantee zero financial variances.

• Issue valid payment receipts and pack customer purchases securely to prevent product breakage.

Inventory Merchandising & Shelf Upkeep

• Restock display shelves systematically throughout the shift, ensuring all beverage labels face forward neatly.

• Monitor store inventory levels during late hours, flagging and reporting fast-moving items or stock shortages to management.

• Maintain the total cleanliness and organization of the store floor, checkout counters, and storage rooms.

Regulatory Compliance & Operational Support

• Enforce strict legal guidelines regarding alcohol distribution by verifying identification cards to confirm customer age.

• Execute standardized store opening and closing protocols tailored for the night shift framework.

• Ensure maximum store security compliance, remaining vigilant and maintaining order on the premises during late-night hours.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

• Academic Foundation: Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a complementary commercial discipline.

• Professional Track Record: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in retail shop sales, with an explicit preference for candidates coming from liquor stores, supermarkets, or hospitality setups.

• Operational Adaptability: Proven capacity and willingness to work consistent night shifts independently with minimal supervision.

• Digital Literacy: Basic computer knowledge, with practical familiarity navigating digital POS registers and payment systems.
