Strategic Objective

We are seeking a highly meticulous, technically proficient Sewing Machine Technician to anchor our equipment performance and client support services. Your primary focus will be to ensure the absolute operational efficiency of a diverse inventory of sewing machinery, including manual, industrial, and highly advanced computerized models. This position bridges complex mechanical diagnostics with active customer-facing consultation; you will guide equipment through entire service lifecycles from initial fault isolation and parts replacement to final testing and calibration. The role demands an agile, hands-on troubleshooter who understands mechanical and electrical systems and can seamlessly maintain peak machine performance across our regional branch networks.

Scope of Responsibilities

Machine Diagnostics & Precision Repair

• Isolate, analyze, and repair technical malfunctions across a wide range of sewing machinery, including domestic, industrial, manual, and digital/computerized variants.

• Execute routine servicing schedules, detailed preventive maintenance routines, and comprehensive safety inspections on all equipment.

• Extract and replace defective components, timing gears, motors, and needles to return machinery to optimal factory standards.

• Conduct rigorous pre-delivery tests on all repaired units to verify stitching quality, speed consistency, and electronic command accuracy.

Advisory Services & Technical Support

• Offer clear, practical technical guidance and operational advice to clients regarding proper machinery handling and basic user maintenance.

• Respond rapidly to client service requests, addressing complex on-site machine failures within target turnaround timelines.

• Log and maintain precise service histories, outlining specific mechanical faults discovered, components utilized, and time invested.

Workshop Operations & Asset Management

• Clean, calibrate, and organize workshop tools, diagnostic hardware, and heavy maintenance equipment systematically.

• Audit local spare parts store inventories regularly, forecasting and recommending stock replenishments to prevent repair delays.

• Enforce strict workspace safety, keeping the immediate repair floor clean, orderly, and fully aligned with workplace safety rules.

• Deliver operational field support across regional branches, traveling to handle urgent technical backlogs in Nairobi, Thika, and Ngong as required.

Qualifications & Prerequisites

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Certificate, Diploma, or matching technical training credential in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a complementary industrial maintenance discipline.

• Experience: Proven, hands-on track record specializing directly in the assembly, repair, and comprehensive servicing of commercial and domestic sewing machines.

• System Knowledge: Thorough mechanical understanding of multi-brand manual gearboxes, industrial stitching platforms, and modern computerized embroidery interfaces.

• Fault Isolation: Advanced capability to trace both intricate physical mechanical wear and basic electrical loop faults accurately.
