Job Overview:
A conservation media organization in Maasai Mara is seeking a talented Wildlife Photographer to document wildlife behaviors, landscapes, and ecological events. The role involves field expeditions, visual storytelling, equipment management, and collaboration with conservation teams to produce high-quality content.
Key Responsibilities:
Wildlife Photography & Fieldwork

Capture high-quality photographs of mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects in natural habitats

Document significant ecological events such as the Great Migration and breeding seasons

Conduct field expeditions and remain in remote areas for extended periods
Visual Storytelling & Content Creation

Develop compelling visual narratives that communicate wildlife behaviors and conservation issues

Collaborate with media and conservation teams for content across social media, publications, and exhibitions

Ensure photographs align with organizational messaging and ethical standards
Photography Planning & Coordination

Work with guides, rangers, and conservation staff to plan photography assignments

Schedule shoots around animal activity, migration patterns, and seasonal changes

Scout locations to maximize photographic opportunities while minimizing wildlife disturbance
Equipment Management & Technical Maintenance

Operate and maintain cameras, lenses, drones, and other photography equipment

Back up and organize digital assets securely

Troubleshoot technical issues in the field
Editing & Post-Production

Process and edit photographs using professional software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop)

Optimize images for print, digital, and social media platforms

Maintain consistent aesthetic quality and authenticity
Research & Wildlife Knowledge

Continuously expand knowledge of wildlife species, behaviors, and habitats

Understand animal behavior to anticipate movements for effective photography

Follow ethical guidelines to ensure minimal impact on wildlife
Collaboration & Communication

Work with journalists, researchers, and conservationists on storytelling projects

Coordinate field logistics and share insights with the team

Participate in workshops, presentations, or community outreach events
Reporting & Documentation

Maintain detailed records of fieldwork, wildlife sightings, and photographic assignments

Provide visual reports and content summaries for management and publications

Contribute to data collection or citizen-science initiatives when required
Key Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Photography, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field

Proven experience in wildlife or nature photography with a strong portfolio

Basic knowledge of wildlife behavior and safari environments

Ability to work outdoors for long hours under varying weather conditions

Proficiency in photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop)

Strong storytelling, composition, and technical photography skills
