Job Objective
The job holder will oversee smooth deployments, manage domain names and hosting environments, drive the end-to-end content update workflow, and maintain a secure and optimised web environment for students, staff, and the public. Reporting to the IT Manager, the role will include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities
- Administer and maintain web servers (Linux/Windows) and hosting environments.
- Manage domain names, DNS settings, SSL/TLS certificates, and email configurations across all University web properties and portals.
- Perform regular security checks, backups and disaster recovery procedures for all University web properties, ensuring business continuity at all times.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy for all University websites and portals.
- Take ownership of the end-to-end content upload workflow for the University's main website, sub-sites, and portal.
- Own and coordinate all activities required to improve and maintain the institution's standing in the Webometrics Ranking.
- Configure and manage analytics across all University web properties to track and report on user behaviour, traffic sources, and content performance.
- Collaborate closely with the UI/UX Designer to action findings from usability testing, user journey analyses, and UX auditsimplementing recommended interface improvements, navigation enhancements, and accessibility fixes across the University's websites and portals on time.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for web-related queries from university staff, departments, and the ICT helpdesk.

qualification and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3+ years of experience as a Webmaster, Web Administrator, or similar role.
- Proven experience managing Linux servers (Ubuntu/CentOS) and familiarity with command-line interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems and cloud platforms.
