Mission Description
Based in Nairobi and reporting to the Head of freight forwarding, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing fleet management, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, implementing cost-effective strategies, eco-friendly solutions and driving operational excellence. The role also involves the design and implementation of integrated transport solutions tailored to meet diverse customer and regional logistics needs.Specific tasks will be to:-
Lead and manage all fleet operations, including maintenance, dispatch, tracking, and performance analysis.
Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with the Company objectives and Client requirements.
Ensure full compliance with National transport regulations, safety protocols, and sustainability standards.
Establish and enforce preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life cycles.
Coordinate with the workshop or in-house mechanics for timely servicing and repairs.
Drive fleet optimization initiatives focusing on cost reduction, route planning, fuel efficiency, and asset utilization.
Analyze cost reports to identify areas for savings and operational improvement.
Supervises a team of drivers, mechanics, and dispatchers while fostering a high-performance and safety-driven culture.
Organize regular training on safety, defensive driving, fuel efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, maintenance schedules, and statutory documentation.
Implement green fleet strategies such as fuel-efficient driving, eco-friendly vehicles, or route optimization.
Track and report on fleet carbon emissions aligned to sustainability goals.
Oversee third-party transport providers and contracts, ensuring service-level compliance.
Develop contingency plans for fleet breakdowns, fuel shortages, or logistical disruptions.
Coordinate emergency response procedures and recovery operations.
Collaborate with Commercial and Operations teams to deliver customized transport solutions.
Implement digital tools and telematics systems for fleet monitoring and reporting.
Analyze performance data and prepare regular management reports with KPIs.
Oversee the decommissioning and disposal of aged or underperforming assets
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in fleet and transport operations, including managerial responsibility.
Proven track record of managing a large fleet and delivering transport solutions in East Africa.
Strong knowledge of transport regulatory environment and operational best practices in Kenya.
Experience in using transport management systems (TMS), GPS tracking tools, and fleet analytics platforms.
Excellent leadership, planning, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Valid driver's license (Category CE) and knowledge of vehicle technical specifications will be an added advantage.
