Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic evaluations and surgical procedures related to breast health, including lumpectomies, mastectomies, breast biopsies, and reconstructive collaboration.
Work collaboratively with radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists as part of the multidisciplinary breast cancer team.
Participate in weekly tumor boards and case reviews.
Provide counseling, pre-operative, and post-operative care to patients.
Ensure clinical documentation and patient records are accurately maintained in accordance with hospital protocols.
Contribute to the development and updating of clinical guidelines and best practices in breast surgery.
Mentor and train junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff on surgical techniques and breast care.
Participate in hospital quality improvement programs, clinical audits, and research initiatives.
Promote awareness on breast health, early detection, and screening through hospital-led outreach and education activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Master’s Degree in General Surgery (MMed Surgery or equivalent).
Subspecialty training or fellowship in Breast Surgery or Surgical Oncology is strongly preferred.
Registration and licensure with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
At least 5 years of post-graduate surgical experience with a minimum of 2 years in dedicated breast surgery.
Advanced knowledge of oncologic surgery, patient care protocols, and latest surgical techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
