Job Description
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the company’s overall compliance with tax and statutory deductions, maintain strong relationships with OEMs and suppliers, ensure completeness and accuracy of expenses, and provide advisory on cost-cutting measures to improve financial efficiency. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Finance Manager and will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
- Timely preparation, filing, and payment of statutory deductions and taxes, including PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, NITA, WHT, VAT, and Import Duties.
- Ensuring compliance with Kenyan tax laws and regulations.
- Keeping up to date with tax policy changes and advising management on their implications.
- Receipt, verification, and input of supplier invoices into the accounting system.
- Ensuring supplier payments are processed accurately and on time.
- Reconciling supplier accounts and maintaining good working relationships with OEMs and other vendors.
- Reconciling intercompany accounts.
- Performing regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank records and company financial statements.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies in banking transactions.
- Ensuring proper documentation of all financial transactions for audit and compliance purposes.
- Ensuring completeness and accuracy of expenses, properly documented and aligned with budget allocations.
- Providing advisory on cost-cutting measures to optimize spending and improve financial efficiency.
- Assisting in conducting internal audits to enhance financial controls.
- Assisting in project costing and budget preparation to ensure accurate financial planning.
- Monitoring project expenses against budgets and report variances to management.
- Supporting management in financial forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Maintaining accurate and organized tax records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports related to tax and statutory obligations.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Commerce Accounting /Finance or related qualification
- Must have CPA Part II
- Preferably 3-5 Years’ Experience in a similar role in a busy Finance/Accounts Department
- Knowledgeable about taxation matters in Kenya and ability to liaise with KRA and other regulatory bodies to resolve tax matters.
- Good understanding of IFRSs
- Great attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant accounting software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in bank reconciliations and project costing.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
