Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Accountant- Cost will implement a series of controls and measures to help optimize the financial performance of the business. S/he shall act as change manager for matters relating to cost controls and profit maximization, rooting out non-optimal practices, and implementing permanent transformation where required. S/he will maintain accurate accounting records and execution of financial transactions for BigCold SimpliFine vendors and clients.

S/he will be an energetic accounting professional who is willing to roll up her/his sleeves to assist in managing the accounting function. BigCold (SimpliFine) is a fast-paced company where a new employee will have the ability to see the big picture and drive a lasting impact for stakeholders and the communities our business serves.

 Maintain all applicable workplace safety standards and requirements.

Key Duties

 

 Inventory management and reporting

 Stock management- confirmation of stock balances, physical verification, and maintenance of stock ledger in the system.

 Manage monthly stock take and allocation of staff to various stock take stations

 Raw material tracking, costing and monthly finished good pricing.

 Stock and material variance reconciliations.

 Review of weekly reports, BOMs and stock adjustments.

 Spots check on receipts, issues of stocks and production,

 Assist Chief Accountant and Management team with other duties as assigned, including, preparation of budgets, cost-based financial analyses, records and financial reporting.

 Maintenance of fixed asset register

 Annual Audit and Taxes

 Ensure audits are carried out within the budget and coordination with Auditors and KRA

 Adhere to and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

 Ensure compliance with tax and monthly VAT filing on time.

 Risk and Compliance

 Ensure that internal controls are in place, adhere to and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

 Implement risk policy framework.

 Coordinate and allocate risks to departments.

 Train on risk and create awareness of all staff.

 Assist Chief Accountant and Management team with other duties as assigned, including, preparation of budgets, cost-based financial analyses, records and financial reporting.

Relevant Skills, Knowledge, And Experience

 

 Bachelor’s degree in accounting/ Finance.

 Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA.

 Minimum 5-years’ experience in cost accounting and inventory controls.

 Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and Navision (or similar accounting software).

 Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Excel super-user preferred.

 Excellent English communication skills, verbally and in writing, required.

 Capable of working under time sensitive deadlines and meeting deliverables, required.

 Excellent attention to detail, ability to document workpapers logically, clearly and concisely, required.

 Experience in a growing food or beverage manufacturing business preferred.

 Experience in internal audit will be preferred.
