The Mater Hospital was opened in 1962 by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic Order of Nuns originating from Ireland, three years after registering themselves as the Registered Trustees of an entity under the Perpetual Succession Act (the succeeding legislation after independence). The "Sisters of Mercy" first set up a 60 bed general hospital to cater mainly for the poor, indigenous Kenyans, with the primary mission being general healthcare. The colonial authorities granted 12 acres of land in a swampy, mosquito-infested area, which has since become the Industrial Area of Nairobi. In 1970, a 60-bed maternity ward was opened with antenatal, postnatal and immunization clinics attached in order to upgrade the quality of maternity healthcare available to the poorer segments of the Nairobi population. - Mater Misericordiae Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in East and Central Africa has an excellent career opportunity. The successful candidate will fill in the above position:
- Provision of transport to all Hospital departments to facilitate the following:
- Collection of any supplies.
- Delivery of goods and materials to the various satellite clinics.
- Transport hospital personnel who are executing official duties.
- Taking visitors around the facilities.
- Daily inspection of the vehicles to ensure that they are in good condition
- Reporting any electrical or mechanical faults in the vehicles to the Supervisor for fixing.
- Reporting any case of accident, injury, or damage to vehicles to the Supervisor.
- Ensuring that all of the hospital vehicles have the necessary documents i.e. insurance.
- Ensuring that authorization is obtained for all journeys daily.
- Recording mileage at the beginning and the end of each journey in the logbook provided.
- Responsible for the security of vehicles during working hours and any goods in transit.
- Ensuring that the vehicles are kept clean and serviced as required.
- Careful use and handling of the vehicles at all times.
- Submitting receipts for all cash spent on fuel and emergency repairs.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum D in KCSE.
- Valid driving Licence (A2, B, C1, D1, D2 & D3)
- Knowledge of basic mechanics
- 3 years experience in both motor vehicles and motorcycles.
