If you are actively seeking employment, whether you are currently employed, unemployed, self-employed, Fresh University Graduate, Grades 10 or 12 Graduate, School Leaver or a Student who is taking a break from studies.
Please take note of the below.
1. When you are applying for a particular job, you are also competing with hundreds and even thousands of other applicants.
2. The Recruiter will go through ALL the applications and screen your CV against what is stated in the Advertisement that was posted.
3. It is important that when you are trying to apply for a job, please go through the Advertisement carefully and make sure your qualifications and experiences match what is on the Advertisement before you apply.
4. Note that when you are applying for a job, you have a 50/50 chance of being shortlisted for interviews. You might get shortlisted or not.
5. Just because you don’t get shortlisted doesn’t mean you give up, “Don’t put ALL your eggs in one basket”, meaning do not just apply to one company apply anywhere and everywhere that piques your interest.
6. Please don’t take it personally when you get an unsuccessful response from the company you are applying to. Look at rejection as redirection.
7. Make sure your CV is updated to the most recent qualification, training or job you have before applying for any job. Also ensure your contact details (Phone Numbers and email address) are current also those of your referees. Having a well put together CV makes a world of a difference. On your CV be sure to list the roles/responsibilities you undertook in a particular role and include thes date (day, month & year) you commenced work and date you completed work for a particular company.

2. How you tricked your employer
Some candidates want to show the prospective employer that they are very clever and narrate stories of how they tricked their past employers. This becomes a red flag and may show that you are not an honest candidate. They will have resentment due to fear of being tricked themselves.
3. Business Ambitions
Even if you want to form a company tomorrow or next year, avoid telling your prospective employer such ambitious steps. Employers are looking for
people who will stay in the position for continuity. When you share your ambitious business interests you sell yourself and expose yourself. They will develop a feeling that you will develop divided attention or you will not stay.
4. Personal Finances
Don’t get into an interview and start bragging about your personal finances or properties that you own. You will come across as arrogant and proud. Even if you possess massive wealth, the interview is the last place to be talking about it. The prospective employer will wonder why you are looking for employment in the first place. In some cases some may become jealousy. To be safe, stick to the you are being interviewed for.

Avoid delving into personal issues such as the fact that you are struggling with debt or you are facing insolvency. You could expose yourself even when that job could save you. Don’t get into intricate details of your own personal experiences. Your personal affairs are not within the interest of the employer. Focus on how you can contribute effectively to the position you are being interviewed for. In trying to get sympathy, some candidates may start majoring on their personal problems thinking this can give them sympathy. This strategy is not sustainable. less
