Windows 11 Tests Bluetooth Audio Sharing: What’s New?
Microsoft is testing a new Bluetooth audio sharing feature in Windows 11 that lets users connect two headsets, speakers, or hearing aids simultaneously. This upgrade, powered by Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio, is currently available for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels. It promises smoother multi-device connections, higher-quality sound, and less power drain—perfect for movie nights or music sessions with a friend.
How Does Bluetooth Audio Sharing Work on Windows 11?
The new Windows 11 Bluetooth audio sharing feature allows users to broadcast audio from one PC to two devices at once, whether wireless earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, or LE-enabled hearing aids. After pairing your devices, simply tap the “Shared audio (preview)” button from Quick Settings. Both connected headsets will receive the same synchronized sound—no lag, no cables, and no need to take turns.
Why Microsoft Is Testing Bluetooth LE Audio Support
This move builds on Microsoft’s Bluetooth LE Audio integration, introduced earlier this year to improve sound clarity during calls and gaming. LE Audio uses the LC3 codec, which delivers higher-quality sound at lower bitrates. Competing brands like Google (Auracast on Android 16) and Samsung (Galaxy S24) have already adopted similar features, and Windows 11 is now catching up to ensure cross-device compatibility and accessibility for users.
When Will Bluetooth Audio Sharing Be Available to Everyone?
Right now, the Bluetooth audio sharing on Windows 11 feature is still in testing. It’s expected to roll out globally after performance refinements and feedback from Insiders. Once officially released, all Windows 11 users with Bluetooth LE-compatible hardware will be able to enjoy this seamless, shared-listening experience—whether for watching, gaming, or collaborating with others.
