Epic Games just made it easier than ever to jump into Fortnite — even if you’ve never downloaded it. You can now try Fortnite directly in Discord, thanks to a new cloud-based trial powered by Nvidia’s GeForce Now. The demo gives players two 30-minute sessions per week to experience Fortnite without needing to install it on their PC.
The new Fortnite trial, available until October 30th, is part of Epic Games’ latest push to attract more players to its popular free-to-play battle royale. Each week, two demo sessions refresh every Tuesday at 9:59AM ET. To access them, click the sign-up link on Epic’s official announcement page — it will redirect you straight into Discord where the demo launches instantly.
Currently, the feature is limited to PC users in select regions including the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, and several European countries. However, some players outside these areas report needing a VPN to access the demo experience.
One of the best parts of this update is convenience. You don’t need to install Fortnite to try it in Discord. All you need is a connected Epic Games and Discord account. Once linked, you can immediately start your trial session in seconds.
Epic assures users that it doesn’t share player data with Nvidia or Discord, though the companies “may independently” collect certain information during gameplay.
This collaboration between Epic, Nvidia, and Discord marks a new chapter in cloud-based game testing. The Fortnite trials are the first of what could become a series of instant-play demos on Discord, potentially allowing users to try other games directly within the app in the near future.
For now, the focus is clear — you can now try Fortnite directly in Discord and get a taste of the action without the usual setup hassle. It’s a smart move by Epic Games to bring one of the world’s biggest online games closer to players where they already spend time: chatting and hanging out on Discord.
