While some teams may only need to be in the office three days a week, others could see four or even five in-office days, depending on executive leadership.

The mandatory return to office policy is expected to be announced in September 2025 and fully implemented by late January 2026. Employees will have time to adjust to the new schedule, but Microsoft’s approach makes it clear that the era of default remote work is ending.
