With just over a month to go before iOS 27 launches, Apple is still refining the update. The fifth beta introduces refreshed app icon designs, adjustments to Liquid Glass, and several smaller improvements that make the iPhone a bit more pleasant to use.
Apple has updated the Liquid Glass icons for Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store, and Preview. Some of these icons have been completely redesigned, while others now include more detail than before.
Voice customization for Siri AI has been expanded. In this beta, you can adjust both Pace and Expressivity for all seven American voices and all four British voices.
Because Siri AI voice customization is processed on-device, the feature is limited to iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air.
If a contact you have created is associated with a company, the company name now appears underneath the contact’s name in the contact list and in search results. This makes it easier to see more information about a contact without opening the contact card.
The Create a Pass feature in Apple Wallet is now available outside the United States.
Apple has added new splash screens for the Photos, Wallet, and Music apps. These screens highlight what’s new in iOS 27.
Apple has made minor changes to the animation that plays when you open Search or Ask. The suggestions interface now appears at the same time as the search bar, instead of popping up slightly afterward.
The search interface also now includes a “Search the Web” option at the bottom of results, which was not available before.
You can now decide whether search shows app results and how many appear. You can turn off app results, show four apps, or show eight apps. A separate toggle lets you control whether app shortcuts are shown.
In iOS 27 beta 4, Control Center no longer displays cellular connection details when your device is connected to Wi-Fi.
5G+ connectivity is now available in Spain.
When you view your software version in Settings > General > About, iOS 27 now tells you when the last update was installed.
The Alarms and Timers sections of the Clock app now use a thicker font.
The clearest Liquid Glass setting is clearer than it was in the prior beta.
The Mail app now includes a toggle for Personalize Smart Replies. The feature is off by default and can be enabled in the Mail section of the Settings app.
The Battery section of the Settings app will now let you know if a poor cellular connection is causing battery drain.
