After six years at the helm, Fandom’s CEO has left the company, ending an era of significant acquisitions and major changes for the popular wiki platform. Perkins Miller’s departure comes as Fandom navigates leadership transitions and corporate restructuring.
Katie Schroeder, speaking on behalf of Fandom, confirmed Miller’s exit and noted that while interim leadership is currently in place, “we have not announced a new CEO as of yet.”
Miller joined Fandom in 2019 after leaving StubHub. During his tenure, he oversaw Fandom’s $50 million acquisition of multiple entertainment content platforms from Red Ventures, including TV Guide, Metacritic, GameSpot, and Giant Bomb.
The acquisitions were intended to “expand our business capabilities and provide immersive content for our partners, advertisers, and fans,” Miller said at the time. However, these deals also triggered multiple rounds of layoffs across some newly-acquired properties.
In an all-hands meeting last October, Miller pointed to corporate restructuring and missed revenue targets as key reasons behind the layoffs. These decisions shaped the current state of Fandom and set the stage for its next chapter under interim leadership.
With Fandom’s CEO having left the company, fans and industry watchers are curious about who will take the reins next. The platform remains a central hub for fan communities, but leadership changes could influence its editorial direction, partnerships, and future acquisitions.
Fandom’s next steps will likely focus on stabilizing operations and exploring new growth opportunities while searching for a permanent CEO to lead the company forward.
