Android’s Circle to Search Gets Smarter with AI and Gaming Boost
Searching on your Android phone just got a whole lot smarter. With the latest update, Android’s Circle to Search feature now supports Google’s AI Mode, giving users the ability to dive deeper into visual searches using a conversational Gemini chatbot. Whether you're circling text on your screen or looking for in-game tips, this tool now delivers real-time, AI-powered answers without needing to leave your current app. The update was announced alongside Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch, where both phones come pre-installed with Android 16 and showcase these enhanced AI capabilities.
AI Mode Now Integrated into Android’s Circle to Search
AI Mode, which debuted in Google Search earlier this year, is now baked right into Circle to Search on Pixel and Samsung devices. This lets users highlight anything on their screen—text, images, or app content—and get contextual results powered by Gemini. Just long press your home button or navigation bar, then circle or tap the item you’re curious about. If Google detects a query that benefits from deeper insight, it offers an AI Overview. You can then tap “dive deeper with AI Mode” to launch the chatbot and ask follow-up questions—all without switching apps.
Circle to Search Offers In-Game Help for Mobile Gamers
Gamers are also getting some love. Circle to Search now includes in-game assistance, letting players access character info, strategy tips, and video tutorials that match the exact moment they’re in the game. This feature, once in limited testing, is now rolling out more widely. It’s a big win for Android gaming fans who want quick help without interrupting gameplay. Google also confirmed that AI Mode will soon arrive on Google Lens via the Google app for Android and iOS—expanding visual search capabilities beyond just phones and tablets.
Gemini Live Brings Smarter AI to Samsung Devices
Google’s Gemini Live assistant is also getting a boost, especially for Samsung users. On the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the AI assistant can now use the cover display’s camera to “see” and respond to visual prompts. It also integrates with Samsung’s own apps like Calendar, Notes, and Reminders, making it more versatile than ever. Support for third-party apps is coming soon, and Gemini is now rolling out to smartwatches using Wear OS 6—including the new Samsung Watch 8 series and other popular Android wearables like Pixel and OPPO watches.
