Job hunting these days is not just hard it’s exhausting.

You apply, tailor your CV, write cover letters, get hopeful… and then silence. Over and over again. It drains your energy, your confidence, and sometimes even your sense of worth.
The market is overcrowded. Everyone is doing the same thing, chasing the same few opportunities, competing endlessly. Yet somehow, companies still say “we need experience” but refuse to hire fresh graduates.

So the big question is: how exactly are we supposed to get experience?
    Will it fall from heaven?
It’s frustrating to see roles labelled “entry-level” demanding 2–5 years of experience. It’s even more painful when older professionals refuse to give younger people a chance to learn on the job maybe out of fear that they’ll be replaced. Instead of mentorship, there’s gatekeeping. Instead of guidance, there’s silence.

And then there’s cheap labour everywhere. People are overworked, underpaid, and still expected to be grateful for the opportunity. It’s tiring. It’s discouraging. It makes you question if effort even matters anymore.

But still giving up is not the answer.
As draining as it is, you must keep going. Keep applying. Keep learning. Keep improving. Your journey may be slower, but it is still valid.

Dear HR professionals and employers: give fresh graduates a chance. Let them prove themselves. Create room for learning. Everyone you admire today once started with no experience. Someone gave them a chance.
We are not asking for handouts just opportunity.

And when the chance finally comes, trust that we’ll show up, learn fast, and give our very best.  less

If the interview is cleared — everything moves smoothly.
    If not — HR disappears.

    Rejection is not the problem.
    Silence is.

    A simple message —

That’s it. It hardly takes a minute.

Candidates are expected to be professional, punctual, prepared, and responsive.

I keep hearing this advice everywhere
“Tailor your CV to every single job you apply for.”

Then the same people are surprised when candidates struggle to confidently defend what is written on their CV during interviews.

    Let’s be honest.

If you apply for 50 jobs in three months, are you supposed to have 50 different CVs and 50 different versions of yourself?

The job market in 2026 is already tough enough. The real question is not how many CVs you can rewrite. The real question is clarity.

    What do you truly want?
    Where are your strengths strongest?
    Where do you genuinely fit?
Where can you add measurable and undeniable value?

Instead of constantly rewriting your personality, take time to refine your direction.

Build one strong and focused CV that reflects your real career path. Apply intentionally to roles that align with your skills and experience. That way, when you get into the interview room, you can confidently explain every achievement, every metric, and every responsibility listed.

    Stop chasing everything.

When you focus on what you do best and position yourself around it, you shift from sounding desperate to showing up as the right fit.

Clarity builds confidence. Confidence attracts opportunity.

But it’s not what gets you hired.

Recruiters have seen average resumes with extraordinary candidates.

Here’s what truly stands out beyond qualifications:
🔹 How you think – Not just what you know.
🔹 How you respond under pressure – Interviews reveal more than resumes.
🔹 Your intent – Are you just looking for a job, or looking to grow?
🔹 Energy & ownership – Do you take responsibility or give excuses?
🔹 Clarity – Do you understand your own career direction?

Sometimes, recruiters don’t select the “most qualified” candidate.
They select the one who shows potential, mindset, and alignment.
Because hiring is not just about skills.
    It’s about long-term value.
What do you think matters more — skills or mindset?

A recruiter spends about 7 seconds scanning your resume.

Job hunting in this market is not for the faint of heart.

    Applications submitted.
    Recruiters contacted.
    Interviews completed.
    And then… silence.

If you’re in the middle of a search right now, you’re not alone. It’s a tough market. Strong candidates are competing for fewer roles. Hiring processes are slower. Decisions take longer. And sometimes you never hear back at all.

It’s frustrating. It can shake your confidence. It can make you question your experience, your skills, even your value.

    But here’s the truth:
A lack of response is not a reflection of your worth.

Behind the scenes, companies are navigating budget freezes, shifting priorities, and internal changes. Many roles are paused or reposted. Some receive hundreds of applications within days. The silence often says more about the market than it does about you.

    If you’re searching right now:
    • Keep refining your approach.
    • Keep building relationships.
    • Keep showing up.
    • Keep going.

Rejection is redirection. Silence is not failure. Persistence still matters.

The right opportunity is looking for the right person too.

    Stay in the game.  less

💥 Candidates: Stop Accepting Silence After Interviews! 💥

There’s far too much online about candidates being ghosted after interviews — and it needs to stop now.

If you’ve taken the time to prepare, show up, and invest your energy into an interview, you deserve basic respect in return. A simple yes or no. That’s it.

    ❌ Silence is not acceptable.
❌ Being ignored is not acceptable.
❌ Waiting weeks with no update is not acceptable.

Whether it’s through a recruiter or directly with an employer:

👉 Chase them. Follow up. Hold them accountable.
👉 If it’s through a recruiter — press them for answers.
👉 If it’s a direct employer — push for feedback.

You are not asking for anything unreasonable. Communication is part of a professional process.

    And here’s the truth:

If organisations can find the time to interview you, they can find the time to give you an answer.

The market is tough enough right now. Candidates shouldn’t also have to deal with unnecessary uncertainty.

We need to change the culture.
We need to stop normalising silence.
We need to expect better — and demand better.

Let’s start holding people accountable. Respect goes both ways.

No one has the right to leave you hanging. Ever.  less

    Recruiter:
“Hello, my name is xxxx calling with regard to the application you made for X role.”
    Candidate:
    “Ati…..!

    We need to do better.🤨
Yes, the job market is tough. Yes, opportunities feel scarce. And yes, many candidates feel frustrated. But how we position ourselves still matters. The market may be competitive, but our decorum, demeanor, and professionalism can either open the next door or quietly close it.

A simple phone call is already a step forward in the recruitment process. It is not the moment for casual reactions, dismissive tones, or unprepared responses. It is the moment to lean in.

Now let’s also talk about honesty.🤔
Blatant exaggerations on CVs. Adding languages you cannot speak. Listing skills you cannot demonstrate. Then when questioned, responding with, “I just included it to boost my CV.”
In this day and age? That approach will cost you more than you think.
Recruitment processes are more thorough. Background checks are deeper. Technical assessments are stricter. Integrity is no longer optional. It is essential.

The job market may be challenging, but professionalism is still a personal choice.
Let’s refine how we answer calls.
Let’s align our CVs with truth.
    Let’s show up prepared.
Let’s communicate with confidence and respect.
    We are in different times.
    We need to do better.

The boss messaged HR: “This is a red flag. Should we drop her?”
HR asked the boss to excuse her so she can get more information from the candidate.
    HR called the candidate separately.

She spoke quietly. The last four years were unforgettable.
At every company I joined, sexual favors were demanded—after I was hired.
I was expected to trade my dignity for job security.
    I chose dignity.”
    That hit hard.
She was invited to take the interview.
    No bias. No assumptions.
    She passed.
    She got the offer.
    She joined the team.
Five years later, she rose to be the team leader, topped performances and saved the company in critical phases.

Sometimes professionalism isn’t about perfect CVs, sharp suits, or linear careers.

It’s about choosing dignity over immorality.

Before judging someone by their CV,
pause and ask where they came from.

    Empathy doesn’t lower standards.
It uncovers potential that assumptions would have missed.  less

They are also paying attention to how you present your CV and application.

Your job application is your first impression.

    Before interviews.
    Before conversations.
Before you get a chance to explain yourself.

Simple things can make a big difference:
    • Clear role applied for / job title
    • Short professional message / cover note
    • Clean, consistent CV formatting

These small details communicate professionalism, effort, and intentionality, things that help you stand out in the recruitment process.

If you’re actively applying for jobs, don’t be discouraged.

Focus on clarity, consistency, and presentation, sometimes one small improvement can change your outcome.

To all applicants who feel like they’re “not good at interviews” — this is for you.

Not everyone is naturally confident in interviews. Some people get nervous, overthink their answers, or struggle to clearly express their thoughts. And that’s completely okay.

As an HR professional, I’ve seen candidates who may not have the strongest interview presence but turn out to be some of the most reliable, hardworking, and high-performing employees once they’re on the job.

Interviewing is a skill — and like any skill, it can be improved with practice. But qualities like dedication, accountability, and strong work ethic go beyond one conversation.

If you know you’re better at doing the work than talking about it, don’t lose confidence. Keep applying. Keep improving. The right company will see your potential beyond a single interview performance.

You are more than one interview.  less

I want to share something many job seekers silently go through.

Getting a call for an interview brings hope. You prepare, you revise, you travel, you invest your time and energy, sometimes for hours of discussion.

And then, after all that, the response is often: "We found candidates better than you."

That’s okay. Rejections are part of growth.

    But what’s disheartening is when:
    - Interviews are conducted without real intent to hire
    - Candidates are kept waiting for days with no feedback
    - No constructive reason is shared for rejection

If the decision is already made, or internal candidates are preferred, please respect the time and effort of applicants by being transparent.

A short, honest message saves candidates from false hope, anxiety, and wasted resources.

This is not a complaint — it’s a humble request for a more respectful hiring process.

Time and dignity matter for job seekers too.
