Role Overview
This position sits at the centre of the finance function, where daily cash positioning, forecasting and reporting come together to keep the organisation liquid and financially stable. Day to day, you will own the models, reconciliations and system records that leadership depends on when making funding, investment and spending decisions. Accuracy matters here: when the numbers are right and clearly explained, the rest of the business can plan, commit and invest with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce daily and weekly cash position reports, reconciling bank statements against internal ledgers across multiple accounts and, where applicable, multiple currencies.
- Build and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, working capital analyses and scenario models that support funding and liquidity planning.
- Monitor inflows and outflows against forecast, investigate variances and escalate emerging liquidity or counterparty risks before they become problems.
- Administer cash management and treasury systems — banking portals, payment files, user permissions and master data — while identifying opportunities to automate manual steps.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries and the schedules required for external audit.
- Partner with accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement and business units to manage payment timing, collections and settlement queries.
- Prepare management reporting packs and variance commentary for senior finance stakeholders and treasury or finance committees.
- Document and strengthen internal controls, policies and procedures relating to cash handling, authorisation limits and financial record keeping.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related business discipline.
- Practical experience in a finance, treasury or accounting role, with hands-on ownership of cash positioning, forecasting or financial modelling rather than purely supporting work.
- Strong analytical ability and proven financial modelling skills, including advanced spreadsheet work and clear presentation of assumptions and outputs.
- Confidence with cash management systems and finance platforms — treasury management systems, ERP modules, banking interfaces or equivalent — plus the aptitude to pick up new systems quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate financial detail for non-finance audiences.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills, and a genuine problem-solving mindset when data is incomplete or deadlines are tight.
- Demonstrated ability to stay composed and accurate under pressure, particularly during close periods, audits or unanticipated cash events.
- A collaborative approach to teamwork, combined with the discretion required to handle confidential financial information.
- A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
