- Oversee payroll, statutory deductions, supplier account reconciliations, bank and loan reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and the upkeep of accrual, prepayment, and provision schedules.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting; review journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting schedules; and produce budget-to-actual analysis, cash flow forecasts, and management and board reports featuring trends, KPIs, and scenario-based projections.
- Manage timely statutory filings and payments, including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, NSSF, SHA, and other applicable Kenyan tax obligations; serve as the key finance contact for complex matters involving KRA, auditors, banks, and regulators.
- Oversee inventory accounting and stock controls by reconciling system balances with physical stock reports, reviewing material use, wastage, work in progress, and finished goods, and coordinating stock takes and supplier issues with stores and procurement.
- Lead internal and external audit preparation, maintain organised supporting records, and address potential audit findings early.
- Guide and assess junior accounting staff, setting clear objectives and strengthening their capability in manufacturing finance and reporting.
- Improve financial controls and workflows, including automation, approval procedures, and segregation of duties; identify financial and operational risks and recommend suitable safeguards.
- Partner with procurement, production, and operations on cost analysis that can inform supplier discussions, pricing, and production efficiency, and assess proposed capital investments through ROI analysis.
