Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the heart of the institution's professional and technical training work in supply chain management, blending classroom delivery with curriculum development and learner mentorship. Day to day, the post holder plans and leads sessions, designs and marks assessments, supervises practical work, and keeps a close watch on how each trainee is progressing toward industry-ready competence. The role matters because it connects what happens in the training room to what employers actually need, feeding real supply chain practice back into programme design while helping learners move confidently into the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate supply chain management learning through lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and other assigned facilitation formats, adapting delivery to the needs of the group.
  • Set, administer and mark examinations, assignments, practical tasks and continuous assessment tests, ensuring results are accurate and processed into the examination records management system on time.
  • Prepare schemes of work and develop original learning materials, then maintain attendance, progress and achievement records that give a clear picture of each trainee's performance.
  • Take part in curriculum development, review and validation of learning resources, grounding these contributions in research and current supply chain practice.
  • Supervise and support trainees during practical work, offering guidance and constructive feedback on their professional development and referring individuals to support services where appropriate.
  • Requisition, organise and maintain the tools, equipment, realia and other physical resources used for teaching and practical sessions.
  • Encourage trainee creativity and innovation by coaching learners for contests, trade fairs and project work, and by building industry linkages that open up experiential learning, excursions and attachment placements.
  • Contribute to departmental seminars and working groups, and take part in institutional meetings, committees and continuous professional development activities as required by regulators.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management or a closely related discipline from an accredited or recognised institution.
  • Current registration as a trainer with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
  • At least two years of teaching experience at tertiary level or its equivalent, or a minimum of three years of industry-based experience in supply chain management.
  • A certificate from an approved Trainer of Trainers course.
  • A professional qualification or membership of a relevant professional association is an added advantage.
  • Practical familiarity with competency-based training methods and with maintaining learner assessment records in a digital examination management system.

Why Join

  • Work at the intersection of technical training and industry, shaping how the next generation of supply chain professionals is prepared.
  • Genuine scope to influence programme design, develop learning materials and contribute to curriculum review and validation.
  • Structured opportunities for continuous professional development and staff training to keep your technical and teaching skills current.
  • Active involvement in departmental seminars, interdisciplinary collaboration and research sharing within and beyond the department.
  • Direct engagement with employers and industry partners through linkages that support attachments, excursions and experiential learning.
