Role Overview
As a Trade Development Representative for a telecommunications provider, you will be the field-based link between the company and its retail network in Kisii CBD. Reporting to the Area Sales Manager, you will spend most of your time visiting SSOs and T-Kash agents to keep SIM and mobile money services running smoothly at the counter. Your work directly shapes how visible, stocked, and compliant the brand is at the exact moments customers choose to buy a SIM or send money.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and recruit new agents, concentrating on mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores, then map them accurately so coverage strengths and gaps are clear.
- Follow agreed beat plans to visit SSOs and agents on a consistent schedule, keeping retailer relationships active rather than occasional.
- Supply SSOs and T-Kash agents with the tools they need to complete transactions, and train them on the processes behind those tools.
- Deliver anti-money laundering (AML) training to agents and KYC/SIM registration training to SSOs, then test their understanding to confirm compliance.
- Track float and stock levels closely, enforcing the 1.5x stock rule for agents and making sure SSOs always have enough SIMs for new registrations and activations.
- Set and maintain merchandising standards at every outlet by providing and arranging point-of-purchase materials that keep products visible and easy to find.
- Drive retailer awareness of SIM and float opportunities, using each visit to spot and resolve issues that slow sales at the point of sale.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in a sales and distribution role, ideally within FMCG or telecommunications.
- Customer focus that shows in how you support outlets and end users.
- Influencing and negotiation skills for working with small business owners and retail partners.
- Networking ability and a track record of building partnerships in the trade.
- Analytical thinking — able to read stock, float, and sales patterns and act on them.
