Role Overview
This is a field-based territory role reporting to the Area Sales Manager, built around consistent, disciplined visitation of the retail and mobile money outlets that sell SIMs, float, and T-Kash services. Day to day, you will be on the road working a planned route of SSOs and agents — recruiting new outlets, training the people who run them, keeping their stock and float at the right levels, and making sure the brand is visible where customers actually make their buying decisions.
The position matters because the revenue of the channel depends on outlets that are properly stocked, correctly trained, and compliant with registration and anti-money-laundering requirements. When an agent runs out of float or an SSO cannot complete a new SIM registration, the sale is lost immediately — your work is what prevents that.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and map new SSOs and T-Kash agents across the territory, prioritising mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores that can generate consistent transaction volumes.
- Work an agreed beat plan and hold a disciplined call rate, visiting SSOs and agents on schedule so that no outlet in the territory goes unsupervised for long.
- Supply each SSO and agent with the tools they need to transact, and walk them through the transaction processes until they can operate confidently without support.
- Deliver anti-money-laundering training to agents and KYC/SIM registration training to SSOs, then verify that the training has landed through testing.
- Monitor float and stock levels continuously, enforcing the 1.5x stock rule with agents and making sure SSOs always hold enough SIMs to handle new registrations and activations.
- Set and maintain merchandising standards, ensuring point-of-sale and visibility materials are available at outlets and displayed correctly.
- Track outlet-level performance and compliance across your route, and flag persistent gaps or risks to the Area Sales Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- At least one year of hands-on experience in a sales and distribution role, ideally gained in FMCG or telecommunications.
- Demonstrated customer focus — the ability to read what an outlet owner needs and respond to it quickly.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills, used both to win new outlets and to hold existing ones to agreed stock, float, and compliance standards.
- Comfort with networking and partnership building across a diverse base of small retailers and agents.
- Analytical thinking sufficient to spot patterns in outlet performance and act on them.
- Willingness and ability to spend the working day in the field, travelling the assigned territory on a fixed route plan.
