Role Overview
This field-based role grows mobile money and SIM distribution across an assigned retail territory, reporting to the Area Sales Manager. The representative spends most of the week executing beat plans, strengthening outlet relationships, and making sure SIMs, float, and point-of-sale materials are available where customers buy. Success looks like active SSOs and T-Kash agents who transact confidently, follow registration and anti-money-laundering rules, and keep counters stocked and visible.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a mapped network of mobile money outlets and high-traffic retail stores, identifying prospective SSOs and T-Kash agents and completing recruitment steps.
- Follow agreed route or beat plans for regular outlet visits, using each call to check activity, resolve issues, and capture market feedback.
- Equip SSOs and agents with the tools, processes, and refresher training they need to complete transactions smoothly and confidently.
- Deliver AML training to agents and KYC/SIM registration training to SSOs, then test understanding and correct gaps at outlet level.
- Monitor SIM stock and agent float, enforcing the 1.5x stock rule and helping outlets avoid stockouts that interrupt new registrations, activations, or cash-out service.
- Maintain merchandising standards by placing and refreshing visibility materials, ensuring the brand is prominent and the point of purchase is well organised.
- Track outlet performance and report on recruitment, call rate, stock, float, and compliance matters to the Area Sales Manager.
- Coach outlet staff on selling and compliance practices, using influencing and negotiation skills to improve throughput and outlet loyalty.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in a sales and distribution role, ideally within FMCG or telecommunications.
- Practical understanding of retail channel dynamics, route-to-market execution, and outlet-level stock or float management.
- Ability to train and influence small business owners and agents, including on AML, KYC, and SIM registration requirements.
- Strong customer focus, networking, and partnership-building skills.
- Analytical thinking to interpret outlet performance and act on stock, float, or compliance gaps.
- Willingness to spend most of the workweek in the field, following a structured beat plan.
- Good communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to manage difficult outlet conversations and drive compliance.
