Job Description

Role Overview

This role sits at the heart of INEE’s partnership with Fab AI, guiding the expansion of the Quality Assurance Facility for AI Education Technology so it works effectively in crisis-affected settings. Reporting to the INEE Deputy Director and working within the Technical Support, Exchange, and Standards team, you will lead both the technical and collaborative dimensions of the initiative: shaping what “good” looks like in AI EdTech for emergencies, and ensuring the Facility delivers evidence that decision-makers can actually rely on. Day to day, you will manage project delivery, provide expert guidance on benchmarks and rapid evaluations, and convene INEE’s global membership to translate field experience into practical quality assurance tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead INEE’s work on the Quality Assurance Facility for AI EdTech in Emergencies, overseeing project management, technical direction, and alignment with INEE’s Strategic Framework and New Operating Model.
  • Provide expert input into the design and development of benchmarks and rapid evaluation components that define quality standards for AI EdTech in emergency contexts and generate decision-grade evidence.
  • Contribute specialised knowledge in Education in Emergencies thematic areas—such as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, School Safety, or Accelerated Education—to the Facility’s technical guidance.
  • Drive engagement with INEE’s membership to capture current practices, needs, and demand around AI EdTech, and ensure the Facility’s activities respond directly to that input.
  • Support efforts to strengthen, deepen, and localise INEE’s network, bringing in decision-makers and interest-holders from EiE contexts who are likely to use the Facility.
  • Represent INEE and the partnership in key international forums, disseminating findings, raising awareness, and promoting uptake of the Quality Assurance Facility.
  • Work closely with the INEE Secretariat on strategic thinking and thought leadership related to AI EdTech in emergencies, helping shape the broader conversation.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A postgraduate degree in education.
  • At least 5–7 years of directly relevant professional experience, with a strong theoretical and practice-based background in both Education in Emergencies and EdTech.
  • A proven track record of managing and delivering education-sector projects across multiple contexts, ideally involving complex partnerships.
  • In-depth understanding of INEE’s ways of working, its role in the EiE sector, and its membership dynamics.
  • Strong grasp of evidence-based approaches and research methods relevant to EiE and EdTech, including how to translate evidence into practical guidance.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear briefs, reports, and syntheses for varied audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with decision-makers and practitioners in EiE, including those in challenging and fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English; proficiency in another INEE language is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time to challenging field locations.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a rare opportunity to help define how AI-supported education technology is quality-assured in some of the world’s most difficult learning environments. You will work at the intersection of technology, humanitarian response, and education policy, with direct access to INEE’s global network and the chance to shape standards that will influence decision-making for years to come. The role offers meaningful intellectual leadership, a collaborative virtual team, and the satisfaction of building tools that respond to real needs in crisis-affected communities.
