Job Description
Overall Purpose of the Job:
- Reporting to the Head of Emergency Rescue & Training Services, the Paramedic Team Leader will provide clinical and operational leadership to ambulance teams. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of emergency medical care, team coordination, compliance, and continuous professional development of paramedic and dispatch personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day ambulance operations, ensuring timely and professional emergency response.
- Provide mentorship and clinical oversight to paramedics and EMT crews.
- Provide guidelines on managing rescue calls and oversee event coverages.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols.
- Oversee infection prevention and control measures, ambulance cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
- Develop team schedules and manage duty rotas.
- Manage inventory and stock levels of drugs and consumables.
- Organize and lead CMEs, skills drills, and identify training needs.
- Maintain EMS assets and monitor performance indicators.
- Compile operational and clinical reports.
Position Requirements:
- Degree in Nursing/ Clinical Medicine
- Specialization in Critical Care / Trauma and Emergency will be an added advantage
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), with PHTLS/ATLS
- Registered Nurse/Clinical Officer with a valid practising licence by the relevant professional bodies.
- Experience in Emergency care, Critical Care or Prehospital Emergency Care
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in EMS or critical care settings.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent clinical judgment.
- Proficiency in EMS protocols, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
