Role Overview
As a Stores Assistant, you will keep the store running smoothly from day to day by receiving materials, organizing stock, and making sure items are easy to find when they are needed. You will also use basic welding and painting skills for minor repair, fabrication, or touch-up work that supports the wider team. This role matters because an orderly store prevents delays, reduces lost or damaged items, and helps colleagues get the right tools and materials without unnecessary downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, tools, and supplies.
- Organize, label, and arrange stock so items can be counted and retrieved quickly.
- Issue materials to authorized staff and update inventory records after each movement.
- Carry out regular stock checks and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
- Keep the store clean, tidy, and safe, following basic storage and handling practices.
- Perform basic welding work for minor repairs, simple fabrication, or support tasks when required.
- Handle basic painting duties, including surface preparation, touch-ups, and protective coating of store items or equipment.
- Work with supervisors and other teams to ensure materials are available on time.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Basic hands-on knowledge of welding and painting, with the ability to carry out minor tasks safely.
- Prior experience in a store, warehouse, or inventory role (typically one to two years) is preferred.
- Comfortable using basic record-keeping tools, stock cards, or simple inventory systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when counting, labeling, and recording items.
- Reliable, able to follow instructions, and able to manage time well in a busy environment.
- Physically able to lift, move, and organize stock and materials safely.
- Secondary school certificate or equivalent; vocational training in welding, painting, or storekeeping is an advantage.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with colleagues and reporting stock issues.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Monthly pay of KES 21,000 during the probation period.
- After three months, the monthly pay increases to KES 22,000.
- A practical role where you can apply both storekeeping and basic technical skills.
- A clear increase in monthly earnings once probation is completed.
