Job Description

Role Overview

The Store Clerk is the person who keeps the day-to-day movement of goods under control — receiving deliveries, checking them against paperwork, storing items properly, and issuing stock only to authorised staff. This role matters because accurate records and organised storage are what stop departments from running short, reduce losses from damage or theft, and keep the Karen, Nairobi store running without avoidable delays. It suits someone who takes pride in tidy records, careful counting, and following procedures exactly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving and verification: Accept incoming goods and supplies, inspect them for damage or shortages, and confirm every delivery matches the purchase order, delivery note, and invoice before signing off.
  • Storage and labelling: Place items in their designated locations, label them clearly, and keep the layout organised so stock is easy to find and protected from damage or loss.
  • Issuing stock: Release items to approved departments or staff, checking authorisation and recording each issue so the inventory trail stays complete.
  • Inventory records: Update stock records and store documentation accurately, file store papers properly, and prepare stock movement or inventory reports when requested.
  • Stock counts and reconciliation: Carry out routine counts, reconcile physical stock against records, investigate any gaps or mismatches, and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Stock level monitoring: Watch reorder points and tell the supervisor as soon as replenishment is needed so operations are not held up.
  • Store upkeep and safety: Keep the store clean, safe, and orderly, and apply company rules on stock control, security, and authorisation at all times.
  • Additional support: Take on other store-related duties assigned by the supervisor as the need arises.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A diploma or certificate in storekeeping, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Previous work as a store clerk, storekeeper, or in a comparable role is an added advantage.
  • Solid knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong numerical ability and careful record-keeping habits.
  • High attention to detail — the kind that catches a wrong quantity or a mismatched delivery note.
  • Honest, dependable, and well organised.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills for working with departments and supervisors.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines without letting accuracy slip.

What We Offer

  • A full-time Store Clerk position based in Karen, Nairobi.
  • A monthly salary of KES 25,000.
