Job Description

Role Overview

This position keeps live events, studio sessions, and daily venue activity sounding clear and running without technical interruption. The person in this seat handles the practical side of audio — moving, rigging, wiring, testing, and operating gear — while also stepping in on LED screen work when a show needs visual support. Their care with equipment and attention to signal quality directly protect the audience experience and the employer’s reputation for dependable production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load, move, position, and strike audio gear — PA systems, powered and passive monitors, microphones, and stands — for events, rehearsals, and venue operations.
  • Assemble and dress stage setups, including stands, basic lighting, and visual equipment, while routing cables cleanly and safely.
  • Run pre-show signal checks, line tests, and sound checks to verify every channel, speaker, and connection.
  • Operate compact analog mixers and entry-level digital consoles during live sets, rehearsals, and studio or venue sessions.
  • Monitor gain structure and output levels to prevent clipping, feedback, hum, or distortion.
  • Inspect, clean, and test equipment before and after each use; maintain inventory logs and flag damaged, missing, or faulty items to the Line Manager.
  • Perform routine repairs such as cable soldering, connector replacement, and battery management for wireless systems; assist senior technicians with audio routing and power distribution issues on site.
  • Lead on-site installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of LED screens for events, plus other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Audio Engineering, Sound Technology, Media Studies, or a comparable qualification.
  • Two or more years spent working with audio gear in live event, venue, or production studio environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of sound technology — signal flow, microphone types, speakers, monitors, mixers, and basic acoustics.
  • Comfort operating small-to-medium analog mixing desks and entry-level digital consoles.
  • Ability to handle physical setup work, including lifting, moving, and positioning audio equipment safely.
  • Punctual, reliable, and willing to work flexible hours when production schedules require it.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety on stage, in studios, and around cabling and power.
  • Basic repair skills, such as soldering cables and replacing connectors, are expected.

What We Offer / Why Join

This role provides real-world work with professional audio rigs across live events, studio sessions, and venue operations. The employer supports skill development and offers a clear path for career progression within the technical operations team.
