The Objective

We are seeking a precision-driven Solar Installation Technician to manage the end-to-end deployment of solar PV solutions. Your mandate involves translating engineering schematics into high-performing on-site installations, encompassing module mounting, inverter integration, and battery setup. You will serve as the technical lead on-site, ensuring that every connection—from DC stringing to AC grid integration—meets rigorous electrical standards and regulatory guidelines. This role demands a commitment to safety, technical accuracy, and the ability to troubleshoot complex system inefficiencies to ensure long-term operational uptime.

Operational Workstreams

System Deployment & Electrical Integration

• Execute the complete installation of solar PV modules, ensuring structural integrity and optimal alignment for maximum efficiency.

• Manage complex DC wiring, including panel stringing and combiner box connections, alongside AC wiring from inverters to distribution boards.

• Implement robust earthing, grounding, and lightning protection systems in accordance with industry best practices.

• Ensure precise cable sizing, routing, and termination while maintaining strict safe isolation procedures.

Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance

• Perform pre-commissioning checks using multimeters and insulation testers to verify polarity and continuity.

• Power up and calibrate inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems to ensure flawless functionality before client handover.

• Diagnose and repair technical faults ranging from wiring issues to inverter errors during service calls.

• Execute preventative maintenance schedules, including panel cleaning and connection tightening, to sustain optimal system performance.

Technical Compliance & Documentation

• Accurately interpret Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) and wiring schematics to guide on-site execution.

• Ensure all installations comply with EPRA guidelines and Kenyan electrical regulations.

• Maintain detailed records of installation configurations, test results, and material usage for project reporting.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to provide field feedback for design improvements and site constraint mitigation.

Candidate Specifications

The Essentials

• Education: Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.

• Domain Expertise: Significant hands-on experience in solar PV or industrial electrical installations.

• Certification: A valid EPRA license is preferred; however, candidates actively pursuing certification with proof of enrollment will be considered.

Technical Profile

• Schematic Proficiency: Exceptional ability to read and translate technical drawings and mounting specifications.

• Tool Competency: Expert-level use of multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers.

• Safety Mindset: Deep understanding of electrical safety standards and the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for identifying and rectifying performance inefficiencies in renewable energy systems.
