Sharepoint Platform Engineer

Role Overview

This position focuses on the day-to-day administration, governance, and optimization of a large enterprise SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 environment. You will configure tenant settings, enforce security and compliance standards, design information architectures that move beyond folder-based storage, and build low-code workflow automations using Power Automate and related tools. Your work directly reduces operational overhead, ensures data integrity and security, and enables business teams to collaborate and manage content more effectively across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage tenant-level configuration settings, enforce governance policies, and monitor platform performance and compliance.
• Design and maintain secure permission structures using SharePoint groups, Microsoft 365 Groups, role-based access controls, and appropriate permission inheritance models.
• Identify and remediate orphaned sites, unmanaged team spaces, and configurations that fall outside established governance standards.
• Plan and implement information architecture using managed metadata (Term Store), content types, site columns, and modern SharePoint features to replace traditional folder-based approaches.
• Optimise existing document libraries, lists, and site structures to improve usability, search effectiveness, and content discoverability.
• Build and support workflow automation and business process solutions with Power Automate, SharePoint Lists, and Forms alternatives, ensuring they comply with governance and supportability constraints.
• Integrate SharePoint with the Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, and other approved enterprise applications by administering service principals, API permissions, and security controls.
• Develop PowerShell and Graph PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks, enforce governance, generate reports, and maintain platform health.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Five or more years of experience developing and supporting SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
• Deep knowledge of SharePoint Online administration, including tenant-level configuration, site administration, governance enforcement, and permission architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow and business process automation.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, PnP PowerShell, and Microsoft Graph PowerShell for automation and administration.
• Understanding of Microsoft Graph APIs, application registrations, service principals, and integration security best practices.
• Strong background in SharePoint information architecture, including managed metadata, content types, Term Store, and document governance principles.
• Familiarity with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices, environment management, and release governance for custom solutions.
• Practical experience with JSON formatting, SharePoint Framework (SPFx), site templates, and other modern SharePoint customization capabilities.
• Knowledge of compliance, retention, auditing, and information governance features within Microsoft 365.
