The Commission then constituted of a chairman, a deputy chairman and fifteen members all appointed by the President. The Commission, since then, has handled matters of human resource management in the public service especially the civil service and local authorities. Constitution of Kenya, 2010 promulgated on 27th August 2010 reconstituted the Commission with a redefined and expanded mandate and a lean membership. View more View less

Requirements for Appointment

  • Served in the grade of Geologist I (Geological Survey) or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for at least three (3) years.
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in any of the following disciplines: Geology, Engineering Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology or any other equivalent qualification from a university recognized institution.
  • Professional membership with Geological Society of Kenya.
  • Registration by the Geologists Registration Board.
  • Senior Management Course (SMC) lasting not less than four (4) weeks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and design of geological survey and mineral resource exploration projects.
  • Preparation of project budgets and preparation of development plans.
  • Overseeing project implementation, monitoring, evaluation and enforcement of technical standards.
  • The officer will be in charge of technical and field operations, as well as supervision and training.
  • Design project standards, specifications and contract documents.
