Role Overview
As the most senior commercial executive focused purely on sales in your market, you will own the end-to-end revenue engine: building the pipeline, pushing deals to close, and expanding existing client relationships across the fintech portfolio. You will work alongside the Country Manager and the SVP Local Markets, translating the broader market strategy into a concrete sales plan that consistently delivers revenue and gross profit targets. Your daily focus is on opportunity quality, forecast accuracy, and commercial negotiation, while leaving country-level P&L ownership and regulatory oversight to the Country Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the annual country sales plan, setting clear territory targets, pipeline coverage ratios, and account growth initiatives that align with group commercial priorities.
- Own the full opportunity lifecycle: prospecting, qualification, strategic negotiation, and closure of high-value enterprise deals across payments, fintech, and digital services.
- Run weekly pipeline and forecast reviews, challenging the quality of deals and coaching the team on accurate sales stage progression.
- Meet or exceed agreed revenue, transaction volume, and gross profit targets, adjusting tactics quickly when performance lags.
- Deepen relationships with strategic customers and ecosystem partners, driving retention, satisfaction, and expansion of wallet share.
- Coordinate with Product, Marketing, Innovation, and Customer Success teams to bring market feedback into the commercial process and accelerate deal outcomes.
- Where a sales team exists, lead, coach, and motivate in-country sales colleagues, embedding a disciplined, high-performance sales culture.
- Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure every customer onboarding, partnership structure, and commercial activity meets regulatory obligations, including KYC/AML and data privacy requirements.
- Monitor the commercial environment for regulatory concerns and escalate emerging issues to the Country Manager while ensuring the team completes all required compliance training.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Technology, or a related field; an MBA or postgraduate qualification is viewed favourably.
- Substantial experience in enterprise sales, business development, or commercial leadership, with a demonstrable record of delivering revenue growth rather than a set number of years alone.
- Deep background across fintech, payments, banking, telecommunications, or digital financial services, ideally in emerging or regulated markets.
- Proven ability to manage large, complex sales pipelines and maintain accurate forecasts for multiple revenue streams.
- Strong track record of leading strategic customer relationships and managing long-cycle enterprise negotiations to successful close.
- Experience coordinating or leading commercial teams, including coaching individual contributors and fostering accountability.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with comfort presenting to senior leadership and influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Familiarity with operating within a regulated commercial environment, including a working understanding of compliance processes, ethical sales standards, and governance responsibilities.
