Role Overview
This is a senior clinical role for a periodontist who will take charge of diagnosing and managing complex gum disease and tooth-supporting structure conditions. Day to day, you will assess patients, plan and perform both non-surgical and surgical treatments, place implants, and educate patients on long-term oral health. Your work directly supports the periodontal service by improving clinical outcomes, reducing tooth loss, and ensuring patients with systemic health conditions receive appropriately coordinated dental care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough periodontal examinations that include pocket depth measurements, radiographic analysis of bone levels, and tooth mobility grading to determine disease severity.
- Design individualized care plans for patients with gingivitis, aggressive periodontitis, and advanced chronic periodontitis, balancing surgical and non-surgical options.
- Deliver deep scaling and root planing treatments to remove plaque, calculus, and bacterial endotoxins from below the gumline across the entire mouth.
- Perform surgical procedures such as pocket reduction flaps, soft tissue grafts to cover exposed roots, frenectomies, and regenerative techniques that rebuild lost bone and gum tissue.
- Place dental implants with a focus on accurate three-dimensional positioning, and manage peri-implantitis through debridement, detoxification, and surgical intervention where needed.
- Educate patients on tailored daily oral hygiene routines, including specific flossing and brushing methods, and provide structured recall schedules to maintain periodontal stability.
- Assess medical histories for systemic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and adjust treatment approaches to account for their impact on periodontal health and healing capacity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a university recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Master of Dental Surgery degree specializing in Periodontology from a recognized institution.
- Full registration as a dentist with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, along with a valid and current practicing license.
- Completion of a Strategic Leadership Development Programme of at least six weeks’ duration from an accredited institution.
- Certification in computer application skills, with the ability to work confidently with dental records, imaging software, and practice management systems.
- Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability, supported by a consistent record of strong clinical performance and measurable results in previous roles.
