Role Overview
This is a high-exposure position inside the Office of the CEO, built for a sharp, commercially minded professional who can operate across strategy, operations, and governance. You will help the CEO and Executive Committee focus on the most important decisions, keep complex initiatives moving, and turn raw data and opinions into clear, compelling narratives. The role sits at the centre of a pan-African fintech, with daily exposure to leadership, board-level work, and the practical realities of scaling across multiple markets.
It suits someone from management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, transaction services, or a similarly rigorous environment who is ready to move from advising to doing. It will also appeal to African diaspora professionals considering a move to the continent, as well as postgraduate or MBA candidates who bring solid pre-study work experience and want their next step to have direct African impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and run the Executive Committee’s operating cadence: decide which issues need leadership attention, set tight agendas, stress-test pre-reads, record decisions clearly, and chase follow-through until closure.
- Own the quality and timeliness of materials produced through the CEO’s office, including Executive Committee packs, Board papers, and investor-facing content, while working with Finance on investor relations rather than taking over delivery.
- Maintain a single, integrated view of the CEO’s priorities, company objectives, and cross-functional workstreams; spot early signs of slippage, dependency risks, or duplication, and coordinate resolution with the accountable executive.
- Run structured analysis and rapid problem-solving on CEO-commissioned questions, synthesising incomplete or conflicting inputs into clear options, trade-offs, and recommendations.
- Lead selected strategic projects and time-boxed interventions from the CEO’s office: set the workplan, bring the right people together, keep momentum, and ensure delivery without stepping on functional owners.
- Act as a filter and force multiplier for the CEO: separate decisions from updates, make sure issues arrive with enough context and options, and protect the CEO’s time for judgement calls that only they can make.
- Support the corporate governance cycle by planning ahead, preparing for Board meetings, running executive rehearsals, capturing commitments accurately, and following through on Board and investor actions.
- Represent the CEO’s office in selected forums and working sessions, clarify intent, connect related work across functions, and escalate material choices or risks within a clearly agreed mandate.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, data, or a similarly analytical discipline, with strong academic results. A master’s degree, MBA, or progress toward CFA, ACCA, or ACA is a plus but not required.
- Three to six years of relevant experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, business operations, transaction services, a Chief of Staff function, or a high-growth technology/fintech environment. Exceptional postgraduate students with strong pre-study work or substantial internships may also be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to structure complex, ambiguous information into clear, board-ready materials that senior leaders can act on with confidence.
- A track record of working credibly with senior stakeholders in fast-paced, high-rigour settings, with the presence to challenge thinking and the humility to support without ego.
- Sound commercial and financial literacy, enough to engage seriously with investor-facing content and board-level conversation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the judgement to reconcile competing perspectives into a single, clear recommendation.
- High professionalism, discretion, and maturity when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Comfort working independently once direction is set, knowing when to resolve an issue directly and when to escalate.
What We Offer / Why Join
This role carries rare ownership for a non-executive position: you own the quality of analysis, the ExCo operating rhythm, the integrated tracking of CEO and ExCo commitments, and the coordination of select CEO-sponsored initiatives. You will also influence the content and direction of investor relations and cross-functional delivery, without carrying independent accountability for outcomes outside your remit.
For candidates at the right stage of their career, this is a genuine bridge to enterprise leadership: direct access to the executive committee, exposure to board and investor processes, and the chance to see how decisions actually land across multiple African markets. For African diaspora professionals and postgraduates seeking a mission-driven move, it offers a way to apply world-class training to problems that matter on the continent.
