Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will manage the day-to-day financial records and reporting for a Dubai-based shipping business, with particular attention to shipping transactions, operating costs, and account accuracy. The role helps the business track its financial position, meet reporting deadlines, and maintain records for VAT and audit reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily accounting activities and keep financial records complete and up to date.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports, and complete month-end and year-end close activities.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including bank, customer, supplier, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Check shipping invoices, operational expenses, and account coding for accuracy.
- Track cash flow, upcoming supplier payments, and overdue customer balances.
- Organize VAT records, audit documentation, and supporting schedules for review.
- Apply internal accounting controls and follow the company’s financial procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Six to eight years of accounting experience in the UAE, including work for a shipping company.
- Practical knowledge of shipping accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Experience with financial close, cash flow monitoring, and audit coordination.
- Understanding of UAE VAT requirements and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
