Alera Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant – Employee Benefits to support financial operations and deliver accurate accounting services for clients. This remote role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong knowledge of financial processes, reporting, reconciliations, and accounts payable activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and client contacts to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient execution of finance-related activities. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support strategic finance initiatives that improve operational accuracy and business growth.
• Partner with accounting teams across regional and corporate functions to maintain consistent financial operations.
• Manage workflows related to commission processing, agency billing, producer compensation, and accounts payable.
• Process and reconcile commissions, fees, reimbursements, and expenses.
• Maintain commission processing systems, including customer, producer, carrier, and rate table setups.
• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, missing payments, and errors.
• Prepare commission statements and payroll reports related to bonuses and commissions.
• Assist with month-end closing activities and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing and outstanding balance monitoring.
• Review and process accounts payable transactions and vendor setups.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience in staff accountant, senior accountant, or commission accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of accounting processes, including commissions, billing, and accounts payable.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with CRM, commission processing, or accounting systems.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical ability with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

• Accounting processes and financial reporting.
