Senior Accountant

Role Overview

This position sits at the core of the finance function for a growing international finance and innovation hub, where the day-to-day work involves keeping the books accurate, cash flow visible, and statutory obligations fully met across multiple entities. Beyond routine accounting, the role is a key support for leadership decisions, turning raw financial data into clear performance narratives, budget analyses, and cash forecasts that guide strategy and reassure lenders. You will also take ownership of project-level accounting, making sure every initiative carries its full financial weight and stays within approved parameters.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting cycle and produce forward-looking forecasts, complete with written commentary that explains variances against budget, strategic targets, and historical results.
• Prepare monthly performance packs for the company and its subsidiaries, translating operational and financial results into actionable insights for management and the board.
• Own the preparation of statutory financial statements under IFRS and relevant local regulations, and coordinate directly with external auditors to keep the audit process on schedule.
• Manage treasury operations by building rolling cash flow projections, monitoring supplier payment terms, and ensuring that collections are allocated to maturing obligations in the right order.
• Track all debt facilities in a single, accurate register, and prepare covenant compliance reports that show current status, key terms, and projected compliance over the next twelve months.
• Draft and submit the financial information required by lenders under facility agreements, including management accounts, cash flow forecasts, compliance certificates, and KYC documentation.
• Support the Financial Controller with financial modelling, ad hoc analysis, technical papers, and inputs for current or future fundraising and borrowing activities.
• Collaborate with the risk team to identify emerging risks across the businesses, maintain the risk register, and implement action points arising from internal and external audit findings.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another business-related discipline.
• CPA(K) certification or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is mandatory.
• At least five years of relevant accounting experience, ideally spanning statutory reporting, budgeting, and treasury work.
• Strong practical knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and local tax regulations, with the ability to apply them in preparing consolidated statements.
• Advanced Excel skills, including modelling, complex formulas, and the ability to present financial data clearly.
• Sharp quantitative and analytical ability, with a natural aptitude for identifying trends and anomalies in numbers.
• Hands-on experience with SAP or a comparable enterprise accounting system is a distinct advantage.
