Job Description

Role Overview

This position puts you on the ground for a Regional Security Office, acting as the eyes and ears that keep the office's security picture current. You will spend most of your working hours in the field within an assigned area, watching for anything out of the ordinary, documenting it, and converting those observations into situation and incident reports that supervisors and security personnel rely on. The work matters because threats to U.S. Government facilities, staff, families and residences rarely announce themselves — timely, well-written reporting from someone physically present is often what allows the office to react before an incident escalates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct continuous security observation across an assigned geographic area, including extended periods outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
  • Detect and document suspicious activity, irregular behaviour and signs of possible surveillance, passing raw findings to analysts for follow-up.
  • Monitor local and open-source material to track developing criminal tactics and techniques, then compile and tabulate that information into readable summaries of security activity.
  • Draft and submit situation and incident reports so Regional Security Office personnel always have the most recent security data at hand.
  • Deliver verbal briefings to security staff on emerging criminal trends and notable incidents.
  • Identify potential threats directed at U.S. Government facilities, employees, family members and residences, and escalate them through the correct channels.
  • Initiate emergency responses when a threat to life or property arises, taking immediate action to safeguard people and assets until further support arrives.
  • Report findings both verbally and in writing to the responsible supervisory security personnel, maintaining records and entering data into security software applications as required.
  • Carry out additional security duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education — a high school diploma or the local equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of security experience gained through military service, law enforcement/policing, or the private sector.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a security certificate or public trust security clearance; all selected candidates undergo a background investigation and may be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Ability to begin work within a reasonable timeframe once agency authorisation, clearances or certifications are granted — candidates who cannot meet this may be withdrawn from consideration.
  • Strong written reporting and verbal briefing skills, with the accuracy and attention to detail needed for record-keeping and data entry.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work long stretches outdoors as a routine part of the role.
  • Candidates may be asked to sit a pre-employment language or skills test.
  • A complete application addressing every qualification — education, experience, language ability and any listed knowledge, skills or abilities — is required; incomplete submissions may be disqualified.
  • Applications close on 4 October 2026.
