Job Description

Role Overview

This role sits at the centre of a fast-moving energy business, where you will make sure every stage of the commercial engine runs cleanly — from how leads are captured and nurtured to how deals close and customers stay satisfied. You will spend your days tightening sales processes, coaching the team toward better performance, and translating raw data into clear decisions for leadership. Your work directly determines whether the company can scale its market share in transformers, solar PV, and smart metering across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously refine the sales and marketing operating framework, ensuring every team member follows disciplined CRM habits and accurate data entry at all times.
  • Identify weak spots in the pipeline — from lead qualification to final close — and implement corrective actions that reduce stagnation and improve conversion rates.
  • Serve as the operational bridge between sales, marketing, technical service, and senior management so that commercial priorities stay aligned and no hand-off gets dropped.
  • Build and maintain performance dashboards that track revenue targets, marketing campaign results, and customer engagement indicators for weekly executive reviews.
  • Design and run onboarding and upskilling programmes that sharpen the sales team’s product knowledge, negotiation techniques, and understanding of the energy market.
  • Take ownership of pricing structures and sales enablement materials, keeping value propositions current, competitive, and easy for field teams to use.
  • Drive customer satisfaction initiatives by monitoring feedback, coordinating complaint resolution, and partnering with technical teams to prevent recurring issues.
  • Lead digital transformation efforts across commercial workflows, replacing manual tasks with automated systems that improve accuracy and speed.
  • Support marketing-led campaigns and brand initiatives in both public and private sectors, ensuring sales teams are ready to convert promotional interest into actual revenue.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party relationships with distributors, vendors, and strategic energy partners, from initial vetting through ongoing performance reviews.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least three to five years of verifiable team leadership experience in the energy sector, with direct exposure to commercial operations.
  • Solid understanding of transformers, solar PV solutions, and smart metering systems — enough to challenge the sales team on technical details and support customer conversations.
  • Hands-on experience managing B2B distribution channels and working with complex CRM datasets to produce reliable sales forecasts.
  • A track record of auditing pipelines, measuring team performance against KPIs, and presenting concise executive reports with clear recommendations.
  • Strong coaching and people-development skills, with the ability to raise the standard of an established sales team without micromanaging.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related commercial discipline.
  • Professional fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken, to communicate comfortably with internal teams, customers, and partners across the region.
