Role Overview
This role sits at the front line of the bank’s growth strategy, combining relationship building with revenue generation. You will actively prospect for new corporate and retail clients, nurture existing portfolios, and position banking products to match each customer’s financial situation. Your work directly contributes to the bank’s market share and long-term profitability by turning contacts into loyal, compliant, and sustainable business relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and targeted market visits, then convert those leads into booked business.
- Assess each client’s financial profile, business cycle, and borrowing capacity to recommend suitable loan structures, deposit accounts, and investment products.
- Prepare and deliver tailored pitches, proposals, and presentations that clearly articulate the value of the bank’s offerings against competitor alternatives.
- Cross-sell complementary products across the bank’s portfolio, identifying opportunities within existing accounts to deepen client engagement.
- Track pipeline activity, sales results, and market feedback in the CRM system, and use that data to refine daily selling strategies and weekly reporting.
- Coordinate with credit, operations, and compliance teams to ensure smooth onboarding, accurate documentation, and adherence to internal risk policies.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor moves, translating that knowledge into actionable insights for the broader sales team.
- Troubleshoot client service issues proactively, ensuring that any friction in account management is resolved quickly and professionally.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, economics, or a closely related discipline.
- 2–4 years of direct experience in business development, relationship management, or sales within a bank or other regulated financial institution.
- Demonstrated history of hitting or exceeding individual sales and revenue objectives, ideally in a target-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of banking regulations, compliance requirements, and foundational risk management principles.
- Familiarity with lending processes, credit evaluation, deposit products, and basic investment solutions.
- Understanding of the specific needs and decision-making dynamics within SME, retail, or corporate banking segments.
- Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to diagnose client problems and recommend practical financial solutions.
- Proven negotiation, persuasion, and closing skills, combined with the confidence to represent the bank externally.
- Comfortable working independently on daily sales activity while also coordinating with internal teams on complex deals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) system to manage sales workflows.
- Analytical, strategic thinking — able to interpret market data, spot emerging opportunity areas, and adjust approach accordingly.
