Role Overview
You will live and work on Chale Island for three months as the resort’s resident photographer, starting in mid-January 2027. Most days mix scheduled guest photoshoots with candid coverage of island life, from snorkelling trips and sundowners to quiet moments around the beach and spa. Your work serves two purposes: giving guests polished holiday images and memorable experiences, while building a fresh visual library that the marketing team can use across their channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Run photography sessions for couples, families, solo travellers and special occasions such as proposals, honeymoons, anniversaries and celebrations.
- Edit and deliver guest photographs to a professional standard, ensuring each client receives high-quality images in good time.
- Teach guests practical ways to improve their own photos and short-form videos using their smartphones, including composition, lighting and simple editing.
- Host sunset photography walks and informal group sessions where guests can practise their skills in a relaxed setting.
- Join selected island activities — including snorkelling, boat trips, nature walks and sundowners — to capture authentic guest experiences and lifestyle content.
- Work alongside the Marine Biology, Watersports and Guest Experience teams to cover their activities and help tell their stories visually.
- Shoot lifestyle photography and short-form video across the island’s dining, spa, activities and special experiences, then organise the footage into a useful content library for the marketing team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong professional portfolio demonstrating photography and editing skills, ideally in travel, resort, hospitality or lifestyle settings.
- Own professional camera equipment, plus the software and workflow needed to edit and deliver images efficiently.
- Warm, outgoing personality with confidence interacting with international guests of all ages and backgrounds.
- Comfortable photographing couples, families and individuals, and able to direct people who may feel nervous in front of the camera.
- Solid understanding of smartphone photography and short-form content creation, including Reels.
- Self-motivated and creative, with the ability to work independently while living within a small island community.
- Strong spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
- Drone or underwater photography/videography skills are strong advantages, as is any experience capturing marine or coastal environments.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is a three-month resident contract based on Chale Island, with accommodation and meals provided throughout. You will live as part of the island community, with your schedule varying around guest activities, photoshoots and operational needs. It is a rare chance to spend an entire season immersed in a beautiful coastal environment, create meaningful work for real guests, and contribute directly to the island’s visual identity.
