Role Overview
As a Relationship Officer, you will be the branch’s frontline growth engine, turning agent and broker relationships into new and renewed insurance business. You will guide individual and corporate agents through the company’s product range, help them see where its strengths fit client needs, and work with the branch team to bring new intermediaries on board, sharpen their selling skills, and keep them motivated. Success in this role keeps branch revenue on track, protects policy administration standards, and strengthens the company’s standing in the local market.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth by winning new accounts and renewing existing ones to meet agreed sales targets.
- Control and account for insurance policy documents and certificate allocations, maintaining accurate records.
- Apply the cash-and-carry policy strictly in line with company guidelines.
- Identify high-performing intermediaries and negotiate approved incentives within policy and compliance limits.
- Achieve the branch’s predefined product-mix targets by promoting a diversified range of offerings.
- Produce timely, accurate reports for the branch manager to support decision-making.
- Implement branch standard operating procedures and follow performance management practices to deliver efficient customer service.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with brokers, agents, clients, and other departments, while representing the company positively in the market.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline such as insurance, marketing, business administration, finance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- ACII or AIIK diploma is an advantage.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in insurance sales, agency/broker relationship management, or a comparable role.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills for working with agents, brokers, and clients.
- Working knowledge of insurance products, policy documentation, and intermediary operations.
- Ability to analyse sales performance, prepare reports, and meet revenue and product-mix targets.
- Familiarity with branch SOPs, cash handling controls, and compliance requirements.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
