Role Overview
This dual-function role places you at the centre of land administration, new-build development, and portfolio performance for an established property investment operation based in Thika. You will safeguard the legal integrity of land titles and leases, drive statutory approvals through Kenyan registries, and assess the financial viability of expansion opportunities. Day-to-day work requires moving between document audits, feasibility modelling, site visits, and coordination with government offices and consultants to ensure every asset is protected and income-generating.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain structured physical and electronic records for all land parcels, deeds, lease agreements, transfers, easements, and encumbrances.
- Direct official land searches, title verification, registration, subdivision, lease renewal, and transfer processes with the relevant registries.
- Act as the key liaison with Ardhi Sasa, Ministry of Lands officials, county physical planners, surveyors, property lawyers, and other statutory bodies.
- Identify, inspect, and appraise possible land acquisitions or real estate developments through financial feasibility studies, land-use analysis, and market demand assessment.
- Coordinate project delivery from architectural design and permit acquisition through construction, while monitoring contractor output and compliance with schedules.
- Oversee a central database of land and building assets, updating valuation metrics, usage status, and future development capacity for each property.
- Conduct periodic asset reviews to detect underutilised holdings, repositioning openings, or ways to increase rental and resale income.
- Track compliance with Kenyan land laws, physical planning regulations, zoning ordinances, and NEMA standards, while flagging title risks, boundary disputes, or ownership overlaps early.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Land Economics, Real Estate Management, Land Administration, Quantity Surveying, GIS, Urban & Regional Planning, or another directly related field.
- At least 5 years of practical experience in land administration, property asset management, or real estate development within Kenya.
- Proven working familiarity with the Ardhi Sasa portal, Land Registry procedures, and current Kenyan land legislation.
- Hands-on capability in preparing feasibility studies or managing property development projects from inception to completion.
- Advanced Excel proficiency covering financial modelling, acquisition cost analysis, development budgets, cash flow forecasting, and return calculations.
- Working knowledge of GIS mapping tools, AutoCAD, or property management platforms is an added advantage.
- Valid driving licence and readiness for frequent travel to project sites across Thika and surrounding areas.
- Strong legal document precision, research discipline, and ability to translate complex data into clear executive recommendations.
