Job Description

Role Overview

You will be the person who turns clinical referrals into clear, reliable images that guide treatment decisions. Working within our diagnostic imaging team, your days involve welcoming patients, preparing them for procedures, and operating X-ray equipment with precision and care. Your attention to detail directly influences how quickly and accurately our doctors can act, so your work is central to both patient outcomes and the hospital’s operational flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a full range of diagnostic X-ray examinations for both scheduled appointments and urgent or emergency cases.
  • Position patients correctly and adjust equipment settings to achieve optimal image quality while keeping each individual comfortable and informed throughout the process.
  • Apply radiation protection measures consistently, including using lead shielding and minimising exposure time, to safeguard patients, staff, and yourself.
  • Review each image for technical quality before releasing it, repeating studies when necessary and documenting any clinical observations that may support the reporting radiologist.
  • Monitor the performance of imaging equipment, performing basic maintenance checks and reporting malfunctions to biomedical engineering without delay.
  • Work closely with radiologists, referring physicians, and nursing staff to clarify examination requests and ensure the correct procedure is delivered every time.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs, following confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Support the induction of students and new team members by demonstrating safe practices and explaining departmental protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Radiography, Medical Imaging Sciences, or an equivalent field from a recognised institution.
  • Current registration and a valid practising licence from the relevant professional council or health regulatory body.
  • Hands-on experience operating digital radiography systems independently, with proven competency in routine and mobile X-ray procedures.
  • Familiarity with CT or MRI equipment is an added advantage, as is experience with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Sound knowledge of radiation safety principles, quality assurance protocols, and infection control standards in a clinical setting.
  • Strong communication skills and genuine empathy for patients, including those who are anxious, in pain, or have limited mobility.
  • The ability to remain composed and organised during high-pressure moments, prioritising urgent requests without compromising image quality.
