Subsequently the Foundation "Vi Planterar träd” (Vi Agroforestry) was established to raise funds for the project. Vi Agroforestry is an international non-political, non religious and non profit organisation registered in Swedan as a foundation and in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda as a non-governmental organisation. Its headquarters are situated in Stockholm, Sweden, with a Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya. Vi Agroforestry started up in West Pokot District, Kenya in 1983. The original aim was to halt desertification and soil erosion by planting trees. As more funds became available Vi Agroforestry expanded and in 1986 a new project site was established in Trans Nzoia District, with a new project office in Kitale, Kenya. About Vi Agroforestry

Vi Agroforestry is a leading organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and climate‑smart land management. We work with smallholder farmers to improve livelihoods, strengthen farmer organisations, and build resilience to climate change.

Role Overview

The successful candidates will support smallholder farmers in implementing sustainable agriculture and climate‑smart land management practices, strengthen farmer organisations, facilitate project activities, and promote climate change adaptation and mitigation.

  • Kabuchai / Cheptais (1 position)
  • Kanduyi / Webuye (1 position)
  • Kwanza / Endebess (1 position)
  • Saboti (1 position)

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ NGO experience
  • Experience in agroforestry, sustainable agriculture and land management (SALM), climate change, and community development
  • At least 2 years’ project management experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and reporting skills
