The company operates in eight countries across Africa and Asia. In 2017, it helped arrange crop and livestock insurance for 611,000 farmers in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Malawi. Its founders’ work in agricultural insurance has earned international recognition, including the Financial Times/IFC Award for Sustainable Finance. Job Description

Role Overview

The Project Manager turns programme commitments into coordinated activity across teams, partner organisations and project locations. From planning schedules and budgets to overseeing community outreach and checking delivery on the ground, this role keeps implementation on track and responsive to client needs. Success means reliable execution, strong stakeholder coordination and clear evidence of progress and results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and update implementation plans, schedules, milestone trackers and delivery processes, assigning responsibilities and addressing slippage or bottlenecks.
  • Serve as the day-to-day operational contact for clients and public institutions, coordinating meetings, documenting decisions and following up on actions, approvals and dependencies.
  • Organise field operations across project locations, including site visits, community forums, training, transport, materials and the coordination of field personnel and partners.
  • Plan public education and community engagement activities with communications teams and local stakeholders; ensure outreach content is accurate, accessible and suited to its audience.
  • Coordinate government agencies, community organisations, development partners and internal teams, maintaining stakeholder records and resolving gaps in collaboration.
  • Track milestones, field coverage, indicators and expenditure; validate implementation evidence and prepare regular progress reports for management and authorised stakeholders.
  • Monitor delivery, budget, safeguarding and compliance risks; maintain project records, recommend corrective action and escalate significant issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Guide project officers, field coordinators, consultants and partners by setting priorities, reviewing performance and providing practical coaching.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related area; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • At least 8–12 years of relevant experience in project or programme management, implementation or delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering government, public-sector or donor-funded projects, including coordination across multiple field locations.
  • Experience working with senior officials, institutional clients, implementation partners and community stakeholders.
  • Background in public awareness, community mobilisation, sensitisation or behaviour-change activities, as well as oversight of field teams, consultants or contractors.
  • Experience managing work plans, budgets, reporting obligations, project risks and delivery schedules.
  • Strong planning, leadership, facilitation, relationship-management and problem-solving abilities, with excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to interpret project data, monitor performance indicators and prepare evidence-based updates; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and project or digital reporting tools is required. Familiarity with field data collection platforms is desirable.
  • Professional certification such as PMI, PRINCE2 or an equivalent project management credential is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites, work occasional hours outside the standard day and manage competing demands in changing field conditions.

What We Offer / Why Join

This role offers the opportunity to shape how a programme is delivered in practice, connecting institutional priorities with field activity and community participation. The Project Manager will help strengthen implementation quality, track meaningful outcomes and identify improvements that can inform future programme development.
