Role Overview
This position sits at the point where the production plan meets the factory floor: you own the shift-level execution that turns weekly and daily targets into finished dairy products leaving the plant on time and to specification. Working across intake, processing, filling and packaging, you keep yield losses, machine stoppages and hygiene risks under control while leading the operators who run those lines. The role matters because output, product safety and cost performance in a dairy operation rise or fall on how tightly each shift is supervised.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the daily production schedule to completion, keeping each shift aligned with volume targets, timelines and product mix.
- Track milk intake, processing and utilisation figures closely, identifying and closing gaps that cause product loss.
- Oversee the manufacture of milk and other dairy lines, confirming that process parameters and specifications are followed.
- Uphold CIP, sterilisation, hygiene and food safety routines so that cleaning and sanitation schedules are completed and verified.
- Supervise filling and packaging machinery, reducing downtime and cutting wastage of product and packaging materials.
- Control the issue, use and reconciliation of packaging materials, maintaining accountability for every consignment.
- Keep accurate shift, production and waste records, and perform routine quality checks before batches are released.
- Enforce occupational health and safety rules on the floor, escalating machine breakdowns and operational bottlenecks for corrective action.
- Confirm that production materials and supplies are available ahead of each run, and contribute to cost-control and resource-optimisation efforts.
- Lead, deploy and coach production teams across shifts, setting expectations and holding people to them.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Production Management, Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in dairy processing, food manufacturing or FMCG production.
- Working knowledge of dairy processing operations, quality management systems and food safety requirements.
- Practical familiarity with packaging and filling machines and other production equipment on a live line.
- Understanding of GMP and HACCP principles, plus workplace safety standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and leadership abilities, with the credibility to manage a production team.
- Computer literacy; prior exposure to ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Resilience under pressure and the flexibility to manage production shifts.
