Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of the production floor, turning sales and planning intentions into a realistic, executable daily schedule. You will be the person who keeps work orders accurate, flags material shortages before they stop a line, and helps supervisors react quickly when output drifts from plan. Your attention to detail directly protects on-time delivery and keeps the factory running without firefighting.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and sequence production schedules that account for product mix, colour and design changeovers, machine capacity, and order priorities.
- Create, release, and maintain production work orders in the ERP or manufacturing execution system, ensuring every order reflects current demand and status.
- Audit system data daily to catch mismatches between planned and actual output, correcting errors or escalating them before they cause downstream delays.
- Monitor the promised arrival dates for locally sourced raw materials and components, flagging any that risk starving a scheduled production run.
- Coordinate with purchasing, warehousing, and suppliers to resolve late, short, or defective material deliveries and agree on recovery dates.
- Track daily line performance against the approved plan and investigate root causes when a production order falls behind.
- Generate concise daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering output achieved, schedule adherence, material shortages, and open work orders.
- Document and refine standard operating procedures for scheduling and production data handling, proposing improvements that reduce manual effort and errors.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Logistics, Operations Management, Production Management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in a production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations support role.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large data sets, build lookups, and create clear pivot summaries.
- Working knowledge of ERP or production management systems, with the confidence to maintain order data accurately and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Excellent organisational and follow-up skills, especially when juggling multiple material alerts and changing production priorities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns in delays or data errors and recommend practical fixes.
